Well then it may need to be checked out..The early 06's had some minor problems with the Transfer Case control motor sticking and issues with the rear locker on the Differential not disengaging (Adventure package models only)..

Whenever I shifted into or out of 4lo I would try and have the vehicle moving 1 to 2 mph...this is recomended in the manual.

I remember the when I bought my H3 the sales person also told me that a shift into and out of low can be done under 5mpg as well as a full stop in neutral or park

I have heard it is easier on your t-case when you shift into or out of 4 lo while slightly moving
